Mental Health & Wellbeing
Senior Mental Health Lead: Andrew Spencer
At Houghton Primary School, we recognise that good mental health and wellbeing is vital for children’s development, their engagement in learning, their attendance in school and the fulfilment of their aspirations.
We are committed to contributing towards positive mental wellbeing by providing:
- an ethos and environment that promotes respect and values diversity
- early targeted support for pupils and learners who need help
- leadership and management that supports and champions efforts to promote emotional health and wellbeing
- curriculum teaching and learning that promotes resilience and supports social and emotional learning
- staff development that supports their own wellbeing and that of pupils and learners
- whole-school decisions that are influenced by pupil voice
The school has an appointed Mental Health Action Group comprising of senior leaders, teaching staff and support staff. This groups works closely with the local Mental Health Support Team to shape provision and support pupils, parents and staff at Houghton Primary.
